Born in Dundee in 1922, the son of Richard and Ann BOYACK of 10 Kinnaird Street, Dundee
1st Royal Gloucestershire Hussars guarded the South West of England after Dunkirk. Due to leave for Africa as part of the British 6th Armoured Division,a last minute change saw the line spend the majority of the war as a UK Defence/Training Regiment. 20th Light Armoured Brigade included a squadron from this regiment, which was commanded by Brigadier ED Fanshawe, concentrating in the Newmarket area as a counter-attack force to repel any potential Nazi offensive.
Robert's detachment were at Chippenham and he died in White Lodge Emergency Hospital, Newmarket as a result of a road accident


Robert is buried in Newmarket Cemetery in grave P:452
